Mohr Guillotine Adds Cutting Edge for Design4Print

Mohr Guillotine Adds Cutting Edge for Design4Print

Canvey Island print business Design4Print recently found out just how vital a piece of equipment a guillotine can be for a print business. The company had been relying on two guillotine products for many years. Annoyingly both started too exhibit problems at the same time.

A replacement was swiftly secured. However, the Gemini product broke down after just one months use. A second replacement machine was drafted in – the clutch went. Both machines failed yet again after fixing.

Rod Hall of Design4Print needed a solution: “We have worked with Morgana for many years and so a call to them was placed. We needed a quality guillotine that wouldn’t let us down. They recommended the Mohr range.”

Morgana Mohr Guillotine

The single-user operated Morgana Mohr D66 hydraulic guillotine is able to provide cutting widths of 67cm (26.37 inches). The operator interface employed is a 5.5 inch monochrome display. Frequently used cutting sequences can be stored in the guillotines expansive memory, which can store up to 198 separate programs that can be adapted at any time. Feeding depth of the unit is 67cm, whilst pile height can be up to 8cm.

“This is a well built, solid looking, proper guillotine. Morgana were able to deliver and install the unit inside a week, and we couldn’t be happier with the results,” added Rod Hall.

As part of a package Morgana were also able to supply a KB2000S perfect binder. “We had been using one of these for some 15 years. It was beginning to show signs of age. Morgana were able to supply us with a replacement at the same time as the guillotine. We use it mostly for NCR sets. It saves a lot of hand work.”

The company provide NCR sets for a number of major clients, as well as producing a healthy quantity of trade work – many printers are simply not equipped for supplying such pieces of print. This machine was delivered and installed in just three days.

The Canvey Island business produces a wide range of work using two SRA3 litho presses and two Ricoh digital machines. The company also produce a wide range of large format work, including indoor and exhibition displays, roller banners, and light box displays.
