Description

Working in the print finishing industry, the role is to develop and test embedded software solutions for all revised and new products designed around various microprocessors.

The successful candidate will contribute during every stage of product development, including the design, prototyping and engineering support. A key part of the role will also be to test & validate created systems through bench testing and within finished systems. Therefore, the position will attract someone who is a self-starter, well organised and with a keen eye for details.

Experience of writing data analysis software for web display with familiarity with IIoT, Big Data Analytics and Cloud products will also be advantageous although not necessary.

External:  Occasional Customer visits may be required

Accountabilities

Maintaining Software and Firmware in accordance with Plockmatic Quality standards.

Person Specification

  • Strong Embedded C/C++
  • Good understanding of electronic hardware and microcontrollers/processors.
  • Good knowledge of distributed system designs & programming
  • Understanding of field bus communications using RS485, CanOpen or similar
  • Familiar with one or more software design tools/IDEs
  • Some previous experience of developing for embedded Linux systems
  • Knowledge of software structures & architectures
  • Exposure to mechatronic engineering

Qualifications

A good degree or equivalent in Computer Science or relevant Electronic Engineering.

Experience

Experienced embedded software designer with 1-2 years’ experience.

Skills/Abilities

Essential:

Strong Embedded C/C++

Demonstrable use of Real time OS e.g. FreeRTOS

Desirable:

QT,QML, Javascript, Perl

Knowledge of IAR embedded Workbench IDE for ARM

Understanding of CAN, CanOpen, RS485, SPI, IC2

Understanding of ST L6470/L6472 stepper motor control

Knowledge of real-time debugging e.g. use of SEGGER J-LINK

Knowledge of Toradex IMX6 and STM32F103xx processors

Exposure to web stack development / full stack capable

Others:

Familiarity with one for more of these terms: USART, JDF, MQTT, HTML, AVR 32UC3C, Power MPC823, AtMega 16/64, StarUML, CanFestival, CanOpenNode, sqllite, AVR JTAGICE3

Travel

Occasional local and international travel may be required to perform duties.
